Secret ears | 2011
Performance documentation, single Chanel video, 6:10
An artist sells her ears. She whispers her secret to every customer, who buys one of her ears. They should eat it and keep the secret by themselves.
I replicated my own ears and produced sweet, real looking jelly ears. I sell my secret experience by giving away the edible body parts in exchange for money. Then I told the buyer a personal secret to complete the metaphorical expression. By eating and digesting the jelly ear, they automatically shared my secret experience. In order to 'whisper' my secret to the customer, I had to get my lips close to their ear. The close body contact establishes a situation in which we could show our mind and our emotions. The crowded environment turns into a private space.
